The national Women in Digital Awards is going ahead this year!

Rain, hail or pandemic we’re determined to celebrate our industry leaders.

The Women in Digital Awards are a celebration of incredible women within the digital industries and the businesses that support them. The night is dedicated to incredible women, companies, disruptors and advocates within the Digital and IT industries. From Female Founder to Developer of the Year, we are providing a platform for women who are dedicated to their craft, their business, and helping others in the industry.

The awards gala is where the community comes together – providing a great opportunity to network with industry leaders.

Despite external challenges in 2020, we’re determined to keep the tradition alive by hosting a memorable virtual experience to connect, educate and empower the community through these challenging times.

Our Keynote

Fareena Contractor: Director of International Emerging Tech Innovation at Walmart

Fareena is a former molecular geneticist who helped develop the H1N1 vaccine at Serum Institute of India and researched brain cancer suppressors at University of Alberta. She left the lab in 2011 to explore opportunities in the telecommunications and sports industries, ultimately leading to an MBA at the University of Toronto. There, focusing on Design Thinking and Strategy, she found her calling in business innovation. Over the last 3 years at Walmart, she built a grassroots innovation organization which has disrupted the status quo and effected change across functions, levels, and countries.

Today, she also leads tech implementation for Walmart Canada and is responsible for the fast and efficient delivery of large scale projects such as online grocery, ML forecasting in logistics, next generation Wi-Fi, in-store applications and many more. When she’s not working, you can probably find her backpacking in another country or on a silent meditation retreat.
