Diane Smith-Gander AO is a professional non-executive director following a career in management consulting with McKinsey & Company and in banking. Her current public company directorships include Wesfarmers Limited and AGL Energy Limited. In the past she chaired Broadspectrum Limited, an ASX public company. She is the independent chair of the member body of SafeWork Australia, the Commonwealth government policy body.
She served on the panel reviewing the Australian Prudential Regulatory Authority’s capability and has undertaken a review of the governance arrangements related to national teams for the Football Federation of Australia, a FIFA member. Diane played representative level basketball, chaired the Australian Sports Drug Agency in the 1990s and served as Chair of Basketball Australia during the period the sport unified. She chairs WADA’s inaugural independent nominations committee
Diane holds an honorary doctorate in Economics and a BEc from the University of Western Australia and an MBA from the University of Sydney. She is an adjunct professor in corporate governance at UWA. She is a fellow of both the Australian Institute of Company Directors and the Governance Institute of Australia. She received an Order of Australia in 2019 for services to business, women’s engagement in executive roles, gender equality and the community.
