Women in Digital was created by Holly Tattersall (now Holly Hunt) after a series of life events that led her to realise that the digital industry was missing something.
It was 2014, and in the words of her then manager, digital was just becoming ‘a thing’. She had just joined an ASX-listed recruitment agency after returning to Australia following a 2-year travel stint (ever the entrepreneur, Holly also founded a travel company in Colombia during that time). With a HR degree and a passion for digital marketing, building a presence in the burgeoning digital space made sense. She was fascinated by the confidence gap presented between female and male candidates, the lack of inclusive digital events and she felt a drive to support women in realising their potential.
After a number of serendipitous conversations with other women in the space and finding herself in situations where she struggled to find events in which her interests belonged, she was inspired to create Women in Digital; an organisation that connects industry leaders to host practical, skill-based workshops, have real conversations about career growth and bring together like-minded humans who can support one another.
From humble beginnings to regular sold-out events with inspirational speakers and spaces filled with empowered women in digital.
Women in Digital is proud to now work with some of Australia’s leading technology businesses and industry heavyweights to deliver events and awards as we work collaboratively to create a more sustained impact on diversity in the industry.
In 2022, we had a glow up, refreshing Women in Digital’s visual identity. From the outside, you’ll see a new logo, fresh website and smarter look and feel. From the inside, we’ve spent time reflecting on our company values, our mission and annual activities and are re-energised towards our mission of helping women define a limitless future by shining a light on careers in digital and technology.
What’s next for Women in Digital? We’ve always got a few goals in mind!

Women in Digital has now grown to a community with over 12,000 people. We are also proud to host the WIDAwards – one of Australia’s leading industry awards to celebrate women within the digital industries.
