Being driven by this purpose, we have become a cornerstone of the Australian tech community for more than 10 years with the key focus of improving gender diversity in the industry.
At Women in Digital, we believe that technology should be built by all people, for all people. That’s why we are passionate about creating an inclusive and welcoming community for all women in digital and diversity champions.
With an industry focus on all types of diversity, you may be asking why do we specifically focus on women and gender diversity? And to that, we answer, ‘We cannot think of a better place to start!’
In Australia, women make up 51% of the population and yet, women still only represent 29% of the technology workforce according to the 2021 ACS Australia’s Digital Pulse Report. As a way of comparison, other professional, scientific and technical services have female representation sitting at 48% – we have to do better!
With women making up over half of the Australian population, we see gender diversity as the gateway to other types of diversity. Looking more broadly, by focussing on gender diversity we can collectively achieve some pretty astounding things like:

We empower women and companies through our industry-leading annual Women in Digital awards program, the WIDAwards.
From creating a platform for industry leaders in our annual awards program, to sharing the insights of industry leaders at our quarterly events, we champion excellence in everything we do.
