The Women in Digital Awards were founded based on the idea ‘you can’t be what you can’t see.’ The awards are a celebration of incredible women and non-binary folk within the digital industries and the organisations that support them.
It was not an easy job for our panel of industry expert judges but we are so very excited to announce our incredible WINNERS of the 2018 Women in Digital Awards.
Julie Stevanja is the Founder of Stylerunner, a highly successful eCommerce activewear and apparel platform. A pioneer of innovation, Stylerunner was awarded for their rapid adoption of new technology to deliver unrivalled customer experiences. The judges were particularly impressed with Julie’s leadership and vision within a competitive landscape.
Sarah Smith is the CTO of Sortal, a ground-breaking AI-powered technology to search your personal images. Sarah has had an impressive global career in technology working with Nokia, Google and Expedia. The judges were impressed with her constant contribution to the Digital ecosystem and entrepreneurial spirit.
Candace Marshall is the Executive Producer at Josephmark and Breeder. Candace has been awarded for her work on Clipchamp, which the judges described as technically complex and highly strategic. The judges appreciated her business acumen demonstrated throughout the submission and the quality of the final output, in addition to being a highly engaged digital community member.
Brynley King is the Founder of Brynleyking.com a sophisticated Digital Marketing agency specialising in eCommerce optimisation. The judges were impressed with her strategic nous and incredible results for clients – exemplified when one of her stores generated its first 100k in 164 days.
Julie Trell is the Global Head of Muru-D, and Coralus (previously) SheEO Australia Lead. Julie has had a global career with some of the biggest technology companies in the world, and is passionate about education and innovation. The judges were impressed with her playful approach to leadership and change.
Sharon Melamed is the Founder of Matchboard, a platform that connects service providers and consumers.
Sharon impressed the judges with the platforms’ innovative nature and proven market traction, reinforced by a large number of customer testimonials and raving fans.
Elizabeth Gibbons is the Client Director at Zeroseven. In her role, she is responsible for business development and company growth, which she has excelled at through tenacity and strategic excellence.
Rachel Downie is the Founder of Stymie, a platform that helps to prevent bullying in schools. Rachel is solving a very real problem within schools through a technology-driven solution.
Ally Watson is the Co-Founder of Code like a Girl, an organisation that teaches girls to code in programs across Australia. Ally was voted the People’s Choice for this award for her admirable commitment to moving the needle for girls in tech.
The Women’s Business School provides training and support for women to grow their businesses using digital technology as an enabler and productivity maker. The judges were impressed with their results and commitment to empowering women.
Cisco has achieved incredible results in improving its gender diversity from 6 to 37% in the last 12 months largely driven by the QLD State Manager Michael Reid. The judges were impressed with their tangible results and Michael’s passion for Diversity.
Tech Girls Movement works with schools across Australia to inspire and mentor young girls into Technology. Winners are often taken to the US to visit Silicon Valley and learn about the opportunities careers in technology provide. The judges were impressed with the organisation’s impact, with proven success in inspiring more young women into technology.
AV Technology is a company focused on constant improvement of its workforce, company performance and culture. They have demonstrated unparalleled self-awareness, commitment to change and belief in the value of diversity and inclusion.
The Women in Digital Awards would not be possible without their support
