Data Engineer

Cotality are seeking a Senior Professional in Data Engineering to lead our Data Fulfilment solutions across our BI and Bulk Data distribution platforms. Our team is responsible for the distribution of Australian and New Zealand property advertisement and transfer data across the business, acting as subject matter experts for our domains.

In addition to driving architecture that aligns with our strategic direction, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of the BI engineering team. You will join a tight-knit, self-organising group that collaborates with almost every technology and product team across Cotality to create data assets that power individuals and industries. What You Will Be Doing:

  • Manage end-to-end delivery of technology solutions for world-class BI and Bulk Data platforms.
  • Facilitate the development of data fulfilment solutions including data, technology, and processes.
  • Technical ownership of the valuations data domain, BI portal, and Bulk Data Distribution frameworks.
  • Develop data engineering solutions using SQL and Python/Java for large, complex data sets.
  • Build high-throughput/low-latency data pipelines across cloud architectures (AWS, GCP).
  • Create and maintain continuous delivery pipelines using current practices and tooling.
  • Ensure reliable operation and adherence to corporate data governance and architectural standards.
  • Align systems to Cotality’s overall technology strategy and maintain coherent documentation.
  • Champion the platform internally to demonstrate value and secure investment.
  • Work effectively within an agile team to deliver robust, scalable, and maintainable solutions.

Essential:

  • Tertiary qualifications in computer science or equivalent industry experience.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of commercial data engineering experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing cloud-based solutions (AWS or GCP).
  • Proficiency in Python or Java for data development and strong SQL skills for analysis and testing.
  • Experience working with large databases and complex environments.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a scrum team.
  • Deep understanding of cloud concepts, data integration solutions, and data modelling.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities, including reverse-engineering skills.

Preferred:

  • Experience with property or real estate data solutions.
  • AWS or GCP Certification.
  • Experience developing APIs and understanding of streaming systems such as Kafka.
  • Experience with serverless concepts.
